I'm REALLY happy for that. There needs to be more radical thought in gaming. Even if its pretty mainstream radical thought.

Xander!
Imagine my shock when I saw your LJ in the New York Times today. A fur being quoted about something, and it wasn't even about being a fur. Grats sir.

Xander The Blue does, too

(Link)
Apparently Xander The Blue also promotes piracy, since he has posted a screencapture of a copyrighted game.

K.K. gives away HIS OWN MUSIC for free. How is it piracy when THE ARTIST gives away HIS OWN MUSIC?

The guy before me pretty much covered it. K.K. Slider is only distributing his music for free because he doesn't want greedy "fat cats" benefiting from his music. He's in it for the music. There's nothing wrong with that. It's equivalent to a garage band giving out their own music so that people hear them.

The article looked like it was a simple grasp for something, anything to write about. It failed to even make a point beyond trying to make up an explanation for the screenshot. It did this with some weak quote usage as well. The author quoted "copies" and suggested that this must mean that Slider was using burned illegal music. But aren't even "legal" CD's copies?

Re: Promotes piracy?!

Quick and simple: Get a life, "promotes piracy" seriously. If you that mad at the game just because your fat nerdy fingers are too big for the DS then dont even try to play it. No, posting screenshots of a game is not piracy, but posting a copyrighted image with not permisson from its owner is illegal, especially when its used to "hurt" the company's status.

Re: SOMEONE DELETED MY COMMENT

But the Washington Post saw it!

"I'm going to buy 'Animal Crossing' just for this," added an anonymous poster. And someone calling herself "Spooky Girl who like ice cream" volunteered: "Ah, ah excellent. A good point for the Big N," presumably referring to Nintendo.

A user called Yams also added "Yams yams yams yams yams."

That last insight and its implications for the young people in Professor Brown's vision of the future notwithstanding, it's a bit disorienting to find an "information wants to be free" message embedded in a video game - particularly one aimed at young children and teenagers.

pi·ra·cy
n. pl. pi·ra·cies

1. 1. Robbery committed at sea.
2. A similar act of robbery, as the hijacking of an airplane.
2. The unauthorized use or reproduction of copyrighted or patented material: software piracy.
3. The operation of an unlicensed, illegal radio or television station.

If the artist wants it to be free, then it's not piracy. So fuck you. Goddamn furry.
